Off the back of the acclaimed 2017 Heart Worship EP ‘Faithful To Us‘ the next generation of Heart Church (Nottingham) has taken up the baton- releasing a double single- ‘Unending Grace’ and ‘Where Would I Be’.
It’s tricky to create music that works in a church setting, appeals to youth and also their friends with a non-church background- Heart Youth have walked this line well with these 2 singles.
‘Where Would I Be’ makes great use of vocal FX, half-time filtered drum breaks and house/gospel piano hits (reminiscent of the current UK garage scene) whilst ‘Unending Grace’ applies the same filtered effects to pulsing synths overlaid with a powerful female lead.
Obvious comparisons will be made to Hillsong’s Young & Free, but Heart Youth have put together 2 tracks that stand up alongside the behemoths of global youth worship yet have already begun to carve their own path. For that alone they can stand tall and be proud.
